It is very hard to buck the Conventional Wisdom that grains are good for us.  But I always come back to the basic tenet of livestock farmers – what do you feed livestock to fatten them up – you guessed it, grains!  That nicely marbled steak you like so much is marbled with FAT, people, and it got that way by the animal being fed lots and lots of grain.

And as we are also animals, so why would anyone think feeding US grains is going to make us lose weight?  A little simple logic and sensible thinking debunks the idea entirely for me.

I’m putting a link to Gary Taubes seminal article on carbs, “What if It’s All Been a Big Fat Lie?“, published in July 2002 in the New York Times, in which he shows up the flaws in research supposedly supporting the low fat/heart disease link.

I consider it a must read for anyone trying to lose weight.
